Revenue and privacy
Advertising without surveillance.
The Sentinel accepts a limited number of direct sponsorships to fund public-records reporting. Ads are contextual, clearly labeled, and delivered without behavioral profiles, advertiser scripts, cookies, or tracking pixels.
01
First-party delivery
Creative files are hosted by The Sentinel. Sponsor links go directly to the advertiser and suppress the referring page. We do not permit real-time auctions, cross-site identifiers, advertiser JavaScript, or invisible tracking pixels.
02
A bright editorial line
Payment buys a labeled placement—not coverage, access, review, approval, favorable treatment, or suppression. Sponsored articles and advertisements designed to resemble reporting are not accepted.
03
Conflict exclusions
We do not accept ads from political candidates, parties, PACs, ballot campaigns, surveillance vendors, law-enforcement contractors, subjects of active reporting, or parties materially involved in an investigation. Additional conflicts may be declined at the publisher's discretion.
04
Aggregate reporting
Sponsors may receive aggregate placement pageviews. We do not provide reader identities, individual histories, audience lists, filter terms, document-reading histories, or behavioral segments.
Site measurement
Minimal audience analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate page traffic, referral sources, and site performance. It does not use cookies or local storage, and we do not configure custom reader events. The analytics beacon is declared in this site's source and included in the published integrity manifest.
The theme control stores only the reader's light or dark preference in the browser. It is not transmitted for advertising or analytics.
